  1. I think the real reality is that brands who were going to jump, did it, and brands that don’t want anything to do with it can’t be swayed in the last quarter and tail of their budget.

    In 2010, I expect we’ll see more integration with good old fashioned marketing initiatives- less “social media” hysteria.

  2. Anna makes a lot of sense. We’ve exhausted the hysteria phase, now it is time for integration with old-school marketing. Soon, maybe it will all just be known as marketing… and “social media” will become a tactic for more companies instead of a buzz word.

  3. No, it’s slowed down as a search term because it’s transitioned from being a novel concept to a household phrase; People aren’t googling ‘social media’ so much because they finally understand what it means.

    I don’t think it’s leaving us anytime soon. The future is gonna trend toward portability and convenience.

    You’re probably right. In fact, I just had a conversation with Grant McCracken about this, and he calls it a domestication, not a stagnation (btw, I love that line and I’m stealing it).
