the things i’ll do for money

I recently retired the desktop computer I built in 2000 (it made it a full nine years and until the I/O blew was running Photoshop and my audio recording software pretty well).

Now I find myself home-computer-less.

I have two choices to finance my new machine – put it on a credit card and support the credit card company or put my services to work for you and support you.

I don’t like credit card companies. I like you.

Let’s keep things simple – you name something I could do for you for $100.
If I decide to do said thing, and do it, you pay me through Google Checkout or Paypal.

This is an experiment in trying to avoid credit card companies and instead support the people I care about (and who care about me) directly. Maybe it will work, maybe not. But let’s give it a shot.

Ground rules… I can’t do anything illegal and I can’t do anything unethical. If you want to propose something, simply email me at reachme (at) budcaddell (.com).

Is the idea insane/foolish/shameless? Let me know in the comments.
Is the idea brilliant/insane/just might work? Help spread the word and tweet or re-blog this post.

I’d love to post things here on the blog as I complete them, and keep everyone updated on how well I’m reaching my goal.

Update for clarification: I picked $100 because it seemed like a small enough amount but yet could represent an actual chunk of effort. I don’t want requests to break down into negotiations, but if you have an idea for something bigger, I’m definitely up for a chat.

  1. Define “unethical.”

  2. Sure Paula,

    Unethical means not ethical.

    :)

    That’s for free.

  3. No offer for you here, but I love the idea and good luck.

  4. Hi Bud. Two idea:

    1) Do you do Flash? I need some Flash done.

    2) I’d like to use your lovely venn diagram “What We Do Well” on my company’s site.

  5. Bud did you get any work yet?
