I've been nursing a new concept for television situational comedy. It's a vehicle for one of the greatest actors of our generation, and surely our most prolific nude bongo player; his prowess in netting the hottest of Hollywood's starlets precedes him, and he, like Madonna, Prince and Mr. T, need only be known by one name: McConaughey.

The gist: Three's Company meets Dharma & Greg meets Joey meets Growing Pains meets Two and a Half Men.

McConaughey is a highly successful day-trader in New York when a brush with death (he finds himself trapped in an elevator for 40 hours that nearly plummets 60 stories) sends him questioning his life and his identity. It sends him all the way back to live above the garage of his Aunt Sarah (Mary Steenburgen) and Uncle John (John Lithgow) back in Portland.

While living in Portland, Matt (Mathew McConaughey) experiments with new ways of living, like being vegan (ewww), riding a bicycle everywhere (weird!) and wearing only organic clothes. (as if!) While Matt struggles, hilariously, with his new lifestyle, he also begins to fall in love with his Aunt and Uncle's next door neighbor, Alice the high school principal (Josie Davis, aka Sarah Powell from Charles in Charge -- what a comeback!) and becomes a mentor to the neighborhood hooligan, Jimmy (Haley Joe Osment).

Although Matt feels a deeper connection with Alice and Jimmy, he still gets in trouble with his old ways of sleeping with beautiful strangers, drinking and covorting with his famous friends (Lance Armstrong makes an appearance in the pilot), and generally being a shallow but always lovable human being.

I even have the theme song picked out. Here's a taste:

Replace the low "ma na ma na"s with "McConaughey"

Listen to it and hum it to yourself and see if you can get it out of your head.

Now I need your help to make this over-indulged dream a reality! Pass on this link, Digg this page, Stumble it, send it to all of your TV exec friends, etc, etc.

And Matthew, I'm in no way dimishining your talents by putting you on the small screen. Consider it an option for later in your career, when you get tired of all those amazing movie offers.

Since moving to NYC, I have this incredible job where me and a few brilliant friends imagine the future of the internet. This is fun. But the things we dream up take a while to build or implement and its always done by outside hands. (which is actually a good thing)

I miss making things. I even miss the flops. There's a beautiful amnesia after each recording you cut, or canvas you finish, and there's a lasting feeling of, well, satisfaction; true satisfaction you feel after accomplishing something. To leave something where there once was nothing is probably our most god-like ability, and we exercise it far too little.

What sparked this bout of melancholia?

The kids at Gimme! were rocking out to T.Rex

Marc Bolan always seemed to have that kind of effortless creativity, the kind that I see in flashes in my own work and I'm always striving to hold onto. Listening to T. Rex makes me think about my work, whether its music or anything else, and wish I was in the moment and the process of creation.

Speaking of Marc Bolan and T. Rex, this is a perfect opportunity to plug my former bandmates, The Blue Ribbon Glee Club in Chicago. They're a 30+ person punk rock achapella choir that cover classic punk/glam/rock songs. It was amazing to spend every Monday night with them and I miss it terribly. We actually recorded a fair cover of the T. Rex hit above, give it a listen. And if you're anywhere near Chicago, go see them play live. You won't be dissapointed.

This blog is definitely part creation, but its never ending, and I really owe Stinger, the amazing artist that created the header image and monsters, to finish the full redesign. On the sunny side, I may have a brand new super secret project launching in a month or so. Details soon.

I'm a New Yorker by way of Chicago, by way of Austin, by way of Houston. Which means I should be completely comfortable with the heat and humidity here in NYC during the summer. But I'm not. I'm a complainer.

I'm getting excited about the fashion opportunities fall brings, and I'm getting tired of my uniform of v-neck american apparel t's, jeans, sneakers and my stocking cap. What can I say? I miss being a dandy.

Here are some pics I've been collecting for inspiration:

It's a little romantic, a little baroque, and a lot of rock n' roll. I think much of my money will be spent at In God We Trust across the street on Lafayette. But I need the suggestions of other New Yorkers as to where else to complete this look. Get to it! Pretty please?

Their second album, A Hundred Miles Off, not so much. But their THIRD album, You and Me... is being touted as a return to their early days of face melting, balls through the wall sockets rock. Stereogum said it delivers like Dylan and swaggers like the Strokes.

I'm listening to it right now, and I can promise that you won't be disappointed. Plus, (if good music isn't incentive enough) if you buy the album from Amie Street for a measly 5 dollars, you're also supporting a worthy cause. Specifically, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where Luca, a seven month old infant and honorary rhythm guitarist for the band, is undergoing treatment for a rare form of leukemia, Childhood Acute Myelogenous.

Enjoy the rock and make the world a better place: Buy the Album Now

BTW, If Amie Street sounds familiar, you may remember it as the only place that had those hot tracks by Eliot Spitzer's other other, bought and paid for, half, Ashley Dupre.

I read, alot. I also categorize and share things I read in case people want to know what I find interesting, or maybe learn a few things about what I do.

And I thought to myself, what if I did a very quick daily video entry of the few links I found really interesting or funny. And then I did it. And it failed.

I need help. I need advice. Maybe I need someone with actual charisma, or someone that doesn't appear to be a dead corpse, meat puppet like speaking to the camera.

Any thoughts?
