<p>Is it just me, or does more entertainment these days seem to be written from the perspective of a strategic planner? </p>
<p><strong>The old formula</strong> – start with an absolutely ridiculous set of ingredients or situations and craft a narrative that props up the joke (picture Lucy on the assembly line)</p>
<p><strong>The new formula </strong>– identify a key truth about modern human behavior/culture and craft a narrative that dissects it for the viewer (think <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrsAu09O8Is" target="_blank">I Love You, Man</a>)</p>
